" For the past year, I have worked for a company that provides live-in care, mostly for the elderly. In that time, I have passed the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care; doing this course has built up an awareness in me on how to care for the vulnerable and elderly to the best of my ability. I believe that person-centred care is vital for the health and well-being of the clients I have worked with.
I have worked with a variety of health conditions including dementia, Parkinson's, mobility issues, epilepsy, macular degeneration and sensory loss. I have also worked with bedridden clients and those needing palliative care.
I am a mature, caring person and for most of my working life have worked in Health and Social Care. I am an English/Classics graduate and feel I am a good conversationalist. On top of providing care, cooking, medical administration, I try to enhance the life of my clients by doing crosswords, board games, reading, discussing current affairs and accompanying them to activities. I use my laptop to inform and entertain my clients.
I am very organised, trustworthy, hardworking and reliable but unfortunately I do not drive. I am seeking a long-term live-in care position, possibly sharing with another carer on a rotational basis in the Cardiff/Bristol areas. "
